OA-Thurrock students celebrate qualifications and personal achievement

OA-Thurrock students received their examination results, with pupils achieving qualifications that supports their transition into further education, training and employment.

67% of students achieved GCSEs in both English and Maths, with 70% achieving a GCSE in English and 70% achieving a GCSE in Maths. 56% of students achieved at least four GCSEs, while pupils gained an average of 5.6 qualifications across a range of academic and vocational subjects at Level 1 and Level 2. The alternative provision average rate of achieving 1 or more GCSE is 49% - showing we are well above sector national averages.

These figures represent more than academic outcomes. For many students, the road to completing their qualifications has involved overcoming significant barriers to learning and developing the confidence and resilience needed to remain engaged with education.

At OA-Thurrock, students are supported as individuals, with staff working to understand their needs and aspirations and to help them identify a pathway that works for them. Alongside their qualifications, they take with them the independence, confidence and skills they have developed during their time at the academy.

The academy is proud of the qualifications achieved this year, but also of the wider progress made by students – from developing stronger relationships and confidence to recognising their own strengths and potential.

Anna Timms, Head of Academy, said:

Results day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our students, but for me, the real story is the journey they have been on to get here. I am incredibly proud of the resilience they have shown and the progress they have made, both academically and personally. We wish them all the very best as they move forward and begin the next chapter of their journey.
