Olive AP Academy – Thurrock welcomed Sue Wilsher, a local writer of historical fiction, on Tuesday 8 March.
Sue grew up in Thurrock and attended a local secondary school. She has written four books all centred around Tilbury and she gave a really informative presentation to the students talking about her childhood, family background, experiences, and her dreams of becoming a writer.
Sue spoke about local history, including Tilbury Docks and the Thomas Bata factory and housing development.
The students all listened intently, and the presentation was followed by a brief Q&A session.
Sue also signed a number of her books, which will be kept in the academy library.
