It has been a very busy time for the year 11s completing their BTEC level 2 Home Cooking Skills qualification! Ten students have been preparing a two-course meal for their end-of-year assessment.
The students have been very creative with their choices ranging from sirloin steak with a creamy peppercorn sauce; chicken chow mien with homemade spring rolls and homemade minced beef and onion pie to Oreo cheesecake; apple lattice pie and devil’s food cake!
They have considered how to shop responsibly with a budget, how to present their food and how to stick to a time plan.
The students all invited a teaching member of staff to share their food and give a critique, here are some of the comments from staff:
“I would have been happy to pay full price in a restaurant for that meal.” (Mr Riley)
“I have never tried peppercorn sauce; it was so delicious I could have drunk it!” (Miss Doamekpor)
“I give that pie a 9/10! Pie is my favourite and that was a really good one!” (Mr Tuttle)
Well done Year 11!
