Olive AP Academy – Thurrock rated ‘Good’ at recent inspection

"This school has high expectations that pupils rise to."

We are proud to confirm that Olive AP Academy – Thurrock (OA-Th) has retained its ‘Good’ grading following its recent ungraded (section 8) Ofsted inspection on 4 and 5 June 2024. We are delighted to also read that the evidence gathered suggested that the inspection grade might be ‘Outstanding’ if a graded (section 5) inspection were carried out now. This is incredibly encouraging feedback for the academy, confirming that we are focusing in the right areas which has further strengthened our motivation to keep striving for better.

The report provides a number of wide-ranging examples that serve to demonstrate the academy’s high-quality provision, including:

  • the impact our outdoor learning offer has on pupils’ personal growth and development and the positive correlation with qualifications, reintegration and successful next steps;
  • our carefully designed curriculum model that enables pupils to secure the knowledge they need to be successful, while offering opportunities to develop new and existing talents and interests which sparks pupils’ ambitions;
  • the important role of our careers programme in supporting pupils achieve their next steps;
  • the strength of our partnerships with parents, local schools and the local authority, which helps the academy provide high-quality support to pupils and their families;
  • and the effectiveness of our governance arrangements, noting the rigorous systems in place to quality assure the work of the academy.

We will continue to build upon the successes identified by Ofsted in its report so that all pupils make the strongest progress possible, both academically and personally.

We would like to thank our staff, pupils, governors and families who all play a role in ensuring the academy is an effective place to learn, work and succeed. Thank you for your continued support.
