Here is a copy of the letter being sent out by Jo Hill, Headteacher to all parents and carers this week:
On 20th and 21st March 2018 Ofsted inspectors visited our academy to monitor the way we work and our ongoing improvement plans. I am glad to be able to share the good news that the inspectors were impressed with the progress being made at the academy and have published an encouraging report about their visit.
Here are a few quotes taken from the Ofsted inspector’s latest report, following her visit to the academy:
“There is a noticeable improvement in pupils’ attitudes towards learning.”
“Pupils say that they feel safe, that bullying is rare and that they know who to approach if they have any concerns.”
“Teachers are using effective relationships to engage pupils in their learning. When teachers set high expectations and adapt their plans to the specific interests and needs of the pupils, progress is evident.”
“You have high expectations and are relentless in your goal to improve all aspects of the school’s work.”
“You work with determination to provide the very best for pupils. Leaders are steadfast in making a positive difference to pupils’ lives.”
“You have ensured that safeguarding remains a high priority in the school since the first monitoring visit and that the school’s child protection and safeguarding arrangements are effective.”
I am so proud of all our staff and students for the great efforts they have made to ensure that positive change can be seen in all areas of the academy. It is clear from this latest report that everyone is working together to make sure our students get the very best education and opportunities to achieve their ambitions.
The inspector’s report also identified areas which we need to focus on in the coming months. This included improving the attendance of our students at the academy. I would like to ask for your support with this.
Small improvements in every student’s attendance will have a huge impact on their learning and progress. The staff here at the academy will do all we can to support students, to help them come to the academy regularly and make the most of the learning opportunities we offer – but we do need your support at home too. If you would like to discuss your child’s attendance, and find out about further support we can offer you and your child, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the academy staff.

I will keep you updated about events and further improvements here at the academy over the next few months. All parents and carers are always welcome here at the academy; please contact the office if you would like to make an appointment to come in and have a tour of the academy or if you would like to meet with me.
